Episode 20 - Gemini Moon as Luminary Out of Sect - Rob Bailey

Hi, and welcome to the 'Luminaries In and Out of Sect' podcast, a show about the Moon and how astrologers embody and relate to it. My name is SP Hall and I'm your host.

In today’s episode on the Gemini Moon as the Luminary Out of Sect I speak with the brilliant astrologer Rob Bailey.

We spoke about the placement of Rob’s Moon in the 3rd Whole Sign House, but also go off on a lot of tangents. We discuss Rob’s early love of Greek and Medieval History, and his journey to discovering astrology as a passion or subject of interest in his late 20s, as well as the historical and philosophical tradition of magic. We go on kind of a long tangent about the challenges of practicing horary astrology as well the service that branch can provide. We also talk about our shared love of Tolkien, and the importance of engaging with different myths around the creation of the stars and lights. Upon reflection, it was a bit ironic and funny how lunar our discussion of the “realness” or tangibility of certain fictional worlds, given the Moon’s association with imagination and dreams. Rob explains the difference of worldview and cosmology in the Medieval world, just how important the Moon was to their understanding of reality, and how they viewed signs in comparison to the more psychologized interpretations prevalent today. We also talk about planets in joy and what it can mean to have one’s Ascendent Ruler in the 6th House. We talk about the myth of Castor and Pollux and how that relates to Rob’s relationship with his brother and how the Moon in Rob’s 3rd House plays into that.
